$25,000 Advance for “A Book is Born”

Yesterday the Co-Op joined in on a telecall – from Boston to Bavaria – the mom writers were anxious to hear the publisher’s big news. After sharing book updates and celebrating their media successes, they were given the news that each will receive $1000 of a $25,000 advance for their collaborative venture “A Book is Born”!

The announcement from me, the publisher, Nancy Cleary, brought cheers, singing, and even a little dancing from the group.

This is my own little audacity of hope, I want to show my faith in this book and my co-authors. Awarding each a $1000 advance are just seeds for our success. We’ll be embarking on a 7-month marketing campaign beginning in the Spring and I want each author to know her efforts are appreciated, and even compensated. Every new author dreams of a $25,000 advance, and even though 25 co-authors will share the bounty, I am still incredibly proud of this milestone for our little publishing company!

I know it takes relentless tenacity to move books off the bookstore shelves – out the front door, instead of returned out the back – and this incredible group of 24 authors are determined to make an impression, on all writers and future writers out there.

To quote Julia Cameron, “Success occurs in clusters and is born out of generosity. Let us form constellations of believing mirrors and move into our powers.”
